Stage 1 Begins.
I spent a very quiet day in the store today, due to a fairly significant snowfall that kept most shoppers firmly at bay. A quiet day isn't always a bad thing, however.
I got some work done on the store and I made a start on some of the painting I've been chomping at the bit to do.
What follows are 5 pictures of Star Wars miniatures after being primed with flat black acrylic mixed down to a fairly watery consistancy. This allows the paint to adhere more in the crevasses of the figure and less on the "bumpy" parts. The R2-D2 figure demonstrates this the best due to its relatively uniform surface. Some of the figures got a thicker coat than others, since they will be predominantly black. Darth, Moff, Imperial Gunner, Soldier, Pilot, Rebel Soldiers specifically. The Storm Troopers will be mostly white, but since they have a black "undersuit" under the white armour, the simplest approach is to paint them black first. Because of this and the thin nature of white enamels and acrylics, they will require at least a dozen coats to look right.
Imperial Soldier, Gunner and Pilot.
Stormtroopers.
Ben, Chewie, 3P0 and R2.
Imperial Officer, Darth and Moff Tarkin.
Han, 2 Rebel Soldiers.
That's all for now.

So far so good GB.Are they brush painted or sprayed.
I brush painted these R.I.P., I don't own an airbrush, so I'd be stuck with spraypaint "as is" and that is usually too thick for these tiny figures and ends up covering some of the finer details. That's why I use a thinned down paint for the primer.
I still have to prime some of the "lighter" figures. Luke gets primed in dark brown and Leia in a medium grey. I also have a rebel pilot (Mostly red) who gets primed in white. The only way to get red to "pop" is to apply it over white, otherwise it ends up looking dull...
I often thought about putting a set togther all hand painted like this, not so much the same theam.I was thinking on the lines of 15th centry milatery. The movie Braveheart is what got me thinking of it.I realy don't have the time to put in to it.
I realy don't know what happend there.3 posts.
I think you just REALLY like the idea...
;o)
There are LOTS of these little guys in tons of different styles. Once I finish the one's I'm working on, I could probably look into something like what you were interested in...
