A Long Time Ago, In a Bookstore Far Away...

Another chess set was born.

You guessed it folks, Star Wars.

Like there aren't enough Star Wars themed do-dads floating around, I'm building another one!

Got myself some FINE Star Wars miniatures. When all is said and done, I'll have a Rebel Side and an Imperial Side.

Don't have all the figures yet, but when I do, they'll get photographed and posted, promise.

Here's the line up:

Rebels.
King - Obi Wan (I know, I know, but I want Luke to MOVE!)
Queen - Leia
Bishop - Luke
Bishop - Han
Knight - Chewie
Knight - Lando
Rook - R2D2
Rook - C3P0
Pawns - Assorted Rebel Troopers

Imperials
King - Emperor Palpatine (Duh!)
Queen - (I'm so gonna take flack but name me a female Imperial!) Vader
Bishop - Moff Tarkin
Bishop - Boba Fett or THE Imperial Probe Droid or An Imperial Officer (Admiral Whassisname)
Knight - Sand Person
Knight - Jawa (Or Boba if I use the Droid or Officer as a Bishop)
Rook - Emperor's Personal Guard
Rook - Emperor's Personal Guard
Pawns - Stormtroopers

I'm sticking to the original films, so no Jango or Darth Maul etc.
The figures I'm using are what's available, so I'm limited to an extent. I really want to use Greedo, but can't lay hands on a figure so far. Greedo and Boba as Knights are PERFECT, but you do what you can with what you've got.

And as for Queen Darth, that's just good casting! Besides, it's not like I have many options for a charcter that could take the role of Queen. Pretty much NO female presence in the Empire...

If I find a Yoda, I might make him King, Obi Wan a Bishop and Han and Chewie the Knights.
That leaves old Lando out in the cold. I wish I could do more, but I've got my own problems.

Well, R.I.P., at least you'll be able to watch the set "come to life" over the next little while.
Pics coming just as soon as I get myself one of them fancy new digital type cameras.
I did a bit of math and with all the pics I want to take it makes sense to sink 100+ into a digital rather than spend 15 everytime I want to develop 24 shots that may or may not have turned out.
